Milid Week has established itself as a meeting point for prominent actors in the field of Milid


Outstanding academic actors, politicians and professionals in the field of media literacy found a meeting in Milid Week. The event took place between 23 and 25 May at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and received more than 300 participants from the area, from all continents.

Among them we could find actors from organizations such as UNESCO and the European Commission, Universities, professional and research institutions and nearly a hundred speakers interested in sharing experiences and knowledge about media literacy and intercultural dialogue.

Members of UNESCO-UNAOC Global Chair approved during Milid Week the action plan for the next biennium

UNESCO-UNAOC Global Chair held during the Milid Week Congress a meeting of its members in order to approve the Action Plan for the next two years Milid UNITWIN program. Representatives of member universities worked in delineation of actions on the basis of an earlier document prepared jointly. The plan contains a wide range that includes training, research and promotion of Milid and exchange between members of the chair.

Tapio Varis will present the book "Media Literacy and New Humanism" co- written with José Manuel Pérez Tornero in Lithuania


In a conference on Technology and Civilizations in Global Education, Tapio Varis, professor emeritus of  Tampere University, professor with UNESCO and collaborator to the Communications and Education Research Group  of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) will present in Vilnius University (Lithuania) the book Media Literacy and New Humanism.

Communication and Education Research Group will develop the project I + D + I "DYNAMIC" about Media Literacy Indicators

Which aspects should be measured in Media Literacy related to individuals, companies and groups? And, how these measurements should perform?

UAB will lead EMEDUS, a project that will analyze the situation of Media Education in all EU countries

During the last quarter of this year, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), through the Department of Communication and Education and a consortium of six other institutions, will launch the project "European Media Literacy Education Study (EMEDUS).

The UAB will coordinate the UNITWIN agreement for one year as from September 2011


From September 2011 until September 2012, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), through Mentor’s General Secretary, José Manuel Pérez Tornero, will act as the main coordinator of a collaboration agreement to promote the development of media literacy and intercultural dialogue.

The International conference on Communication, Education and New Literacy, 11 – 13 May 2011 , Barcelona- Spain

The International Conference on communication, Education and New Literacy organized by the Gabinete de Comunicaión y Educación from 11 to 13 of May 2011 is a space of debate, reflection and analyses of initiatives, projects, research, experiences and tendencies on Media Literacy in the world.  The event gathers up the experience of the Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación of the Faculty of communication studies, a research group specialized in the research and scientific divulgation.

Mentor participates in the seventh edition of the Expedition Tahina-Can Bancaja.

This year, the seventh edition of the Expedition Tahina-Can bancaja has discovered the south of Chile time with 20 university students from all around Spain to get to know the consequences of the earthquakes of February last year. This expedition of travelling journalism started in the middles of January with the aim to create his particular “Chronic of reconstruction”

EBU TRAINING Assembly 2010 of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), titled How do Public Broadcasters compete, will take place in the Faculty of Communication Studies of UAB, in collaboration with Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación and Instituto Radio Televisión Española.
