EAVI Conference to be held in Madrid

The Third International EAVI (European Association for  Viewers Interests) will be hosted in the Spanish Senate, Madrid, on 24 and 25 November. It will discuss 'Citizens' Participation to Public Life through the Media'.

Its' aim is to promote awareness, discussion and participation of institutional stakeholders in the development, promotion and development of initiatives associated with active citizenship and Media Literacy.

The Conference’s organizers are the European Association for Viewers Interests (EAVI) supported by the European Commission (CE), the Spanish Senate, Mentor Association and the Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.

Dr. José Manuel Pérez Tornero, Professor and Director of the Communication and Education Office at UAB and Secretary General of Mentor Association,  will chair the opening session and speak about 'International Institutions and Media Literacy'. 

The session 'Media Education' will be chaired by Dr. Samy Tayie, Professor of Mass Communication  at Cairo University and President of Mentor Associaton; the key speech will be held by Professor Tapio Varis.
